Current Garmin issues with solutions

Hi Everyone!

There are a few new issues that I have been receiving.

1.) My app disappeared

2.) My App reverts to Trial mode

3). CIQ app is not using the correct name.

1.) My app disappeared from my watch app list but is shown in Garmin Connect. Cannot reinstall, too.

Solution: restart the watch, the app will likely just appear in the app list after the restart. If it does not appear now it will reinstall.

2.) My App reverts to Trial mode after a Garmin update or F3b update. This is due to the update clears the users data on the watch.

Solution: Disable the AutoUpdate of CIQ apps. The default is ON set to OFF. This will prevent unknown updates, that caused this to occur. Then you will be able to control the unknown updates. Note: You need to do this for all installed Garmin utilities

How to disable Autoupdate in all three Garmin Utilities.

  1. Connect Mobile App: go to the More (…) (bottom right) > Garmin Devices>General> Auto Update Apps (set to off).
  2. Connect IQ Store App: go to the My Device (bottom right) > Auto Update (set to off).
  3. Garmin Express: go to the Tools & Content (bottom left) > ⚙️ Utilities > Auto Update (Uncheck).

3). CIQ app is not using the correct name. For example: Footbike activity is being save as Cycling.
Solution: Set Activity Name set to “Location & Device Location”
To set this option, you need to use the internet web Connect access.

  • Go to https:\\connect.garmin.com,
  • Login using Connect user name and password.
  • Select user Icon on the top right,
  • Select Account Settings > Display Preferences
  • Set Activity Name set to “Location & Device Activity Name”
